CORK FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL CLOSING PARTY WITH ETIENNE JAUMET, 202S & LIVE VISUALS BY LIONEL PALUN

We're pretty excited about this show this Sunday. For the closing of the 2011 Cork French Film Festival we'll be performing along with the excellent Etienne Jaumet. Etienne's probably best know as half of Zombie Zombie but his 2010 solo album, 'Night Music', produced by Carl Craig & released by Domino is a gem in its' own right. Live visuals on the night will be provided by Lyons based Lionel Palun, a visual artist working primarily in video & performance. Below is some video of Etienne Jaumet building a track as well as some Lionel Palun footage to whet the appetite!

Virtual 7 inch #2

The second in our series of virtual 7 inches features remixes by Patrick Kelleher & Bantum. Patrick Kelleher is probably familiar to most people with an interest in the Irish music scene at this point. His excellent 'You Look Cold' album was undoubtedly one of last years' most exciting releases. Bantum meanwhile, is the moniker of DJ/Producer Ruairi Lynch. He's got a deadly 5 track EP available for free download here. Both tracks are streaming below & can be downloaded free from our bandcamp site. Mucho respecto to both acts for their mixes & to Richard Dowling at WAV for mastering.

VIDEO: REPEAT (SCHFLI REMIX)

We've made a video for the St. Catherine’s Home for Lazy Infants remix of 'Repeat'. It's the work of Paddy Cahill, one of the heads behind our earlier 'Ease My Mind' video. This one's a nod/homage to/rip off of a scene from Gus Van Sant's 'Drugstore Cowboy'. If you're familiar with the movie, it's the point where Matt Dillon shoots up in the back of the car & slips into some pretty psychedelic hallucinations. The budget for this came perilously close to the Euro 15 mark - basically the cost of 2 packs of plastic animals & a submarine from Smyths toystore. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks to Paddy for his work &, again, to St. Catherine’s Home for Lazy Infants for a great remix.

VIRTUAL 7 INCH #1, STRANDS, ST. CATHERINE'S HOME FOR LAZY INFANTS REMIXES

Greetings & welcome to our new blog. We plan to use this space as an outlet for mixes, remixes, home recordings, found sounds, musical ponderings & whatever else takes our fancy. Here's hoping we can keep it updated pretty regularly & keep the tumbleweed at bay.

We're very excited about our first post. We've asked a bunch of our favourite Irish artists to remix tracks from our debut album & will be making the results available for free download & streaming as a series of virtual 7"s over the coming months. The first offering features what we feel are a gorgeous pair of remixes by Strands & St. Catherine's Home for Lazy Infants. Strands is the brand new project from Stephen Shannon. Steve will be familiar to many as a member of Halfset as well as for his production work on a host of celebrated Irish albums in recent years. The debut Strands album is due in the second half of 2010 & on the evidence of this mix we're very much looking forward to hearing it.

St. Catherine's Home for Lazy Infants is the work of Alex Synge. The debut SCHFLI album 'Old Ghosts', was released last year on the excellent Slow Loris label & blew us away. If you dig the like of Fripp & Eno's 'Evening Star', you should definitely check this one out. We still haven't met Alex but when we do the pints will be on us for contributing such a beautiful mix. Both tracks are available for free download here or can be streamed below. Hope you enjoy them. Muchos gracias to Stephen & Alex for contributing their time & talent.

Both tracks were mastered by Richard Dowling at WAV Mastering.
